        ... If there was a secondary theme to Saturday's activities, it had something to do with trumpeters from Toronto.  There were three good ones on hand, Kevin Turcotte blowing hot with Time Warp, Larry Cramer rather cooler with Jane Bunnett, and a relatively new face on the scene, Brownman Ali, brightening Kitchener drummer Steve Byfield's young quintet at the Eaton Centre with several warm, personable solos that displayed an engaging mix or quirks and lyricism.  Every festival, no matter how small, should have a few interesting discoveries to offer its audiences.  This festival had more than its fair share on Saturday, and Brownman Ali was one.
