"Acclaimed trumpeter/composter Brownman has most often be associated with Cuba after several performances at the Havana Jazz Fest in recent years with his latin-jazz outfit CRUZAO's heavily Cuban peppered sets.  But for this special 3-concert series, for which he will play EXCLUSIVELY flugelhorn, he will dip into his deep knowledge of Brazilian music mounting a tri-weekly series featuring three of Canada's most recognized female world-music vocalists all performing strictly Brazilian repertoire - urban music queen Janelle Monique, sultry Brazilian songstress Aline Morales & Venezuelan world music diva Eliana Cuevas.  Brown has long-time deep affiliates with each of these vocalists and looks forward to musically exploring Brazil with them.  The concept for such a series was borne from performing at last year's Havana Jazz Festival with Brazilian vocal legend Ivan Linns, who has asked Brownman to appear on an upcoming recording.  Couple that with his recent exploits with Brazilian-jazz ensemble PERMUTACOES, and his current Brazilian love affair becomes clear.  Come witness what Brown and these staggering vocal talents can do with Brazilian music first hand at the Trane Studio Fri Sept 1, Fri Sept 8 & Fri Sept 15!"

Brownman recently appointed to the Prague Jazz Open Festival's Board of Artistic Directors where his knowledge and expertise will aid in shaping the vision of the festival's 2006/2007 programming.
